47 Restaurants Receive Stars in the 2022 Shanghai Michelin Guide

See which restaurants fared the best and earned stars in the 2022 Shanghai Michelin Guide.

November 12, 2021

Today is the day. A day of excitement, fear and reckoning for the F&B industry in Shanghai. Riding on 2020's COVID-rocked coattails, 2021 should have been deemed the Year of the Phoenix as many newcomers rose from the ashes. More than anything, the industry banded together, proving a resilience that afforded a select few reward in the form of a Michelin star.

At a press conference this morning at the Shanghai Xijiao State Guest Hotel, Michelin announced its 2022 picks for Shanghai in their sixth installment of the city's guide. Whether you buy into the Michelin hype or not, the 2022 Michelin Guide is bound to influence our city's chefs, diners and restaurants.

With prestige and influence that can propel a restaurant to the top of the ranks, the Michelin Guide identifies the very best in regional dining, breaking down their picks into seven categories this year: Three Star, Two Star, One Star, Bib Gourmand, Michelin Plate, Young Chef and Service Award.

While Paul Pairet's Ultraviolet remained alone at the top of the pack with three stars at the end of last year, both Bao Li Xuan and Da Vittorio made the jump into double star status. Will Ultraviolet retain its advantageously solo spot or will others quickly climb the ranks and move alongside it?

Let's get on with the good stuff. We present to you the full list of this year's winners:
